When you undergo an orthodontic treatment designed particularly for you, straightening your teeth is a pleasure. If you're looking to know more about braces or Invisalign in San Jose, read on.

Overcrowding and crooked teeth are not only unattractive and may make you self-conscious about your smile.

They also make it difficult to maintain your teeth clean and healthy. But how do you choose between Invisalign and dental braces? That is an excellent query! In this article, we'll give you important insights on which of these two dental procedures is right for you.

Orthodontic Comparisons

Comfort

Having your teeth straightened isn't always a pleasant process. The process of changing the alignment of your teeth, whether you wear braces or Invisalign, can be unpleasant.

Compared to Invisalign, braces have sharp edges and have the potential to cut the inner lip and tongue. If you or your child participates in sports, metal braces might pose a safety concern as well.

People do, however, become accustomed to braces or Invisalign with time.

Appearance

The most significant distinction between dental braces and Invisalign is their look, and Invisalign will always win this category. Invisalign is almost invisible, whereas traditional metal braces are much more visible.

Invisalign trays are composed of transparent plastic, whereas braces are made of metal. Some youngsters love choosing different colored bands for metal braces, but most children and adults prefer the Invisalign look.

If you want your teeth’s alignment to be as invisible as possible, Invisalign is the way to go.

Effectiveness

For years, braces have been used to straighten teeth and improve looks. Braces are not removable by the patient. Therefore they must wear those 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as directed by the orthodontist.

Because Invisalign trays are removable, patients may not always adhere to the recommended treatment schedule. Furthermore, if you lose or misplace the trays, they will move your teeth while you are not wearing them.

People who use Invisalign sometimes wear the trays for a shorter period than is suggested, which can extend the time it takes to finish treatment.

In instances where the teeth are significantly misaligned, traditional braces are also more effective. Teeth that are rotated or overlapped cannot always be straightened using Invisalign.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Whether you wear braces or Invisalign, cleaning your teeth should be a top priority. Cleaning is usually simpler with braces since you may brush and floss as usual. If there is food trapped in the metal, you may need to clean it with a smaller brush.

Brushing and flossing are the same with Invisalign, but cleaning the trays takes a little more work. You should wipe the trays after each meal. Rinse and brush your teeth with warm water or a specific Invisalign cleaning solution.

Cleaning the Invisalign trays' crevices may be a pain, especially if you're away from home. When you wear braces or Invisalign, it's even more vital to practice good oral hygiene, so don't forget to brush and floss!
